Good evening everyone!
Let the record show that I did actually start this email before midnight, and if it takes me less than a half hour to get it out the door it's going to be a christmas miracle and I won't ask for anything else this year. You might be asking yourself questions like "Why is the phest announcement email so late today? What is happening in the Phest Email Engineer's life right now? Where did it all go wrong?" and to that I say: I've been asking those very same questions all week. They're good questions. You know where you can find the answers? That's RIGHT! At Don't Bring Your Phucking Phone Phest, this Thursday (Still technically tomorrow) at the BLACK ELEPHANT again for another glorious time. Our cherished and highly esteemed spiritual leader (or whatever,) Abbeth, will be holding down the front desk which is part of what is making this whole thing work, so please bring a hat with you along to the phest so you can take it off in appreciation. Here are the details of where and when:==============================Date: Thursday, April 16, 2026Location: The Black Elephant HostelTime: 5pm to 8PM==============================Say, do you remember way back when this weekly email started? It was in the year 2025, november 25th (our Phonesgiving event!) and boy, it was a primitive thing. Our email list was a paltry twenty-two strong and we were just barely cranking out a single paragraph of content. Now, after a harsh winter, we've been sending emails for 20 weeks, we're up to over a hundred recipients, and bordering on three to four paragraphs per email! That's some crazy growth! I've been contemplating what will happen to the email once we go back to being in the same place every week again in the summer. Really the whole point was to keep people apprised of the situation as the venues and times were variable, but once the weather's nice again... there won't be a need for it anymore. I know it's a very one-directional, very utilitarian communication, but over these last 20-odd weeks it's really become an integral part of my week!I don't know when the last email will be, but when that day comes, I hope you all will still celebrate with us by coming out and not bringing your phucking phones!
